IW Webcast: Lean for Complex Equipment Manufacturers
Lean/Six Sigma has become a disappointment in many complex industries. Executives go through the motions of deploying Lean/Six Sigma throughout their organizations only to find that it has evolved to another fad improvement program with delusionary results. Much of this can be traced back to severe weaknesses in five essential factors: Leadership, business improvement strategy, deployment planning, change awareness, and consistent communication. Lean/Six Sigma is a powerful enabler of transformation when this right infrastructure and foundation is established right up front. Yet many organizations overlook the importance of this critical foundation and begin their Lean/Six Sigma deployment by training the masses and measuring how many "belts" have been accumulated in each department. This plain vanilla, big bang approach to Lean/Six Sigma is doomed to failure.

Presenters include Terry Burton, president of the Center for Excellence in Operations, Inc. (CEO), a management consulting firm specializing in Lean, Six Sigma, supply chain, and new product development. Terry will be joined by Brad VanBrunt, vice president of quality at Endicott Interconnect Technologies, Inc. (EI), a world class supplier in the fabrication and assembly of complex printed circuit boards, advanced flip chip and wire bond semiconductor packaging and precision equipment manufacturing and integration. Terry and Brad will discuss their scaleable Lean/Six Sigma approach and outline the critical steps to establishing a successful Lean/Six Sigma implementation infrastructure. They will discuss the specifics of how this was accomplished in a case study format from EI's current Business Excellence deployment initiative.
